Hamtaro Nendoroid | Review

Hi guys! I hope you have all had a lovely start to your week. I finally got my first Nendoroid!! And I've been sooo looking forward to sharing my excitement with you all :) I waited to unbox it until yesterday because I had to move some things around and clear a space on my bookcase for the little cutie to go, and procrastination is a part of my personality at this point. But that just means the hype is fresh in my mind, so it's the perfect time to write all about it.

In case anyone is wondering why it took me so long to step into the wonderful world of Nendo collecting, it's because I literally collect so many other figures and, as many of you guys will know, Nendoroids can get pretty pricey! I was certain that when I eventually did get my first Nendoroid, it would be the Kirby one, as I've wanted it for a super long time, but then the Good Smile Company (who makes these awesome figures) announced they were releasing a Hamtaro version. So after freaking out, I knew now was the time! I couldn't be more thrilled!

The photo shows a nendoroid figure box. The figure is a character called Hamtaro, who is an orange and white hamster in Japanese anime style. The box is bright orange and has a design of sunflowers and sunflower seeds.

Before I get into my first impressions and whatnot, let's backtrack a little. I almost forgot to even explain what Nendoroids were! It's easy to assume everyone who's been on the nerdy side of the internet for a while will have seen them before... oops. But anyhow, Nendoroids, or Nendos for short, are a type of vinyl figure made in Japan. They were originally of anime characters, then game characters, and now you can get other popularised characters, such as Elsa from Disney's Frozen. They are super detailed for being figures on the smaller side, and so photogenic, too! As someone who partakes in toy photography as a hobby, this made them appeal a lot to me. Have a google of the different Nendoroids you can get after reading my post; you'll not be disappointed.

I also wanted to introduce Hamtaro :) If you're a fellow lover of kawaii culture, then you may have come across the most adorable hamsters and not even released that there's a whole anime series surrounding them. Hamtaro: Little Hamsters, Big Adventures began airing in Japan in 2000 and didn't take long to arrive in Australia, the US and across Europe. I first watched it on the channel Fox Kids, and I was obsessed from the get-go!

A photo showing the side of a Nendoroid figure box. The box contains a figure of Hamtaro who is an orange and white hamster. The box side features a picture of Hamtaro and a yellow sunflower and sunflower seed pattern

I remember having a sketch book that I filled with drawings of all the different ham-hams. I would record the episodes on VHS tapes and then pause them so that I could draw the characters. Can anyone relate to this? I was already a lover of Syrian hamsters, having had two as pets before I ever watched the show, and you can bet I got another and named him Hamtaro :D He ended up being the sweetest, most friendly little ham-ham I ever had the pleasure of knowing, too. I still have many of the tiny Hamtaro character pencil-topper figures I got back then, as well as two Hasbro plushies. One is of Hamtaro and the other is Bijou, a little white hamster with two ribboned pigtails and a French accent, from 2002.

Hamtaro will always be a fond favourite of mine when it comes to anime, and of course, I couldn't pass up on getting the main man Hamtaro in Nendoroid form!! I will end up talking about my love for the franchise all night if I let myself, so here goes... brace yourselves for some cuteness overload!

A photo showing the outer box of an Hamtaro Nendoroid figure. Hamtaro is an orange and white hamster from an anime series. The box is bright orange, and there are picture of Hamtaro all around.

As the back of the box shows, you can style this Nendoroid in four ways. The set comes with three faces: a chubby cheeks version, a standard open eyes look & a happy, closed-eye expression. You also get two body options, standing up and sitting down. There are various accessories and tiny hands that match with the different face parts, such as a hand for holding onto a tiny sunflower. This is one of my favourite things about Nendoroids! That you can style one figure in so many different ways because of all of the parts that come with it. They remind me of my Pennywise the Clown figure by Neca, but obviously a smaller, more chibified type of figure, haha! (I think I need a chibi Pennywise in my life though... *quickly google searches for horror Nendos*).

A photo showing a nendoroid figure in its plastic packaging. The character is an orange and white hamster, and there are various head and body parts to assemble. The blog writers hand can be seen holding a small instruction manual

LOOK HOW PRECIOUS THIS NENDO IS!!!! I love him so much. He's going to be so fun to use in photography scenes and I can't wait to get creative with that :) As you can see, the colour is so vibrant, and the eyes are so expressive and eye-catching (well duh). His little tail and paws are the cutest! I love the way all the interchangeable parts were organised in the box, and was impressed by how securely everything was packaged with tape and tiny bags and such.

A photo showing a collection of figure parts to assemble. The figure is of an orange and white hamster character called Hamtaro. The parts include several facts, bodies and accessories, such as a sunflower and seeds.

Here are all of the main pieces, not including some of the tiny additional hands. All Nendoroids come with a stand, along with a thing to connect the figure to the stand, so the figures are easier to display. I've decided to display my new Hamtaro in a sitting pose so I'm not currently using the stand, but it's still very handy to have. Honestly, collecting figures is a nightmare sometimes when slight vibrations can send a figure flying off your shelves, often knocking over several other figures on its way to the ground :D I'm looking at you Tokidoki...

One of my favourite things about the Hamtaro Nendoroid has to be the sunflower seed 'accessories'. If you watched the show or played the video games then you'll understand the significance of these seeds, they are like a bone to a dog. It's really cool that Hamtaro gets to be surrounded by one of his favourite snacks!

A photo showing an orange and white hamster character called Hamtaro. He has chubby cheek pouches and his holding a sunflower seed. There is a pile of sunflower seeds in front of him.

I mean, have you ever seen anything more adorable in your life!? He looks so happy having his cheek pouches stuffed with yummy sunflower seeds! This is definitely my favourite of all the poses/styles, and the one that I have chosen to display my figure with. I really like the rosy hue that the designers have decided to include on Hamtaro's cheeks, because it helps to add even more character to the figure! And the point of the sunflower seed in Hamtaro's hand lines up so perfectly with his mouth, giving the impression that he's just about to devour it. So sweet!

A photo showing an orange and white hamster character called Hamtaro. He is standing with his arm outstretched and holding in his left a sunflower

Here is another of the styles that you can arrange this Nendoroid in. Hamtaro with a gleeful expression and arms held up high, as if he's exclaiming 'I found a pretty flower! LOOK!'. The sunflower has a lovely, simplistic design to it, which I think will be great for summertime photography :) You have to attach a specific hand that has a tiny hole it in for the sunflower to sit in. And as some of you will have guessed from the gap between the base of the arm and the body, all of the parts of Nendoroids are moveable, and as I realised quite fiddly. I have never been great at assembling things. My fine motor skills are so bad. And this figure in particular has been very awkward to put together, as my friend let me know when I messaged her struggling with the pieces XD I got there in the end, although apparently not before I took this photo, haha!

A photo showing the side profile of a Hamtaro Nendoroid figure. An orange and white hamster character standing on a clear plastic stand

This is how the Hamtaro Nendo looks when attached to the stand. The part used to secure the figure to the base looks like it was made for a robot because of the screws and I love it :D That part, too, can be a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but I like that it's clear and again, it's always good to have the option of using a stand. Hamtaro's side profile is so damn cute! Check out that tiny 'snout' and pointed nose. Awww!

A photo showing a figure of an orange and white anime hamster character called Hamtaro. He is smiling with closed eyes and has his right hand held up in the peace sign.

Another feature I adore about this figure is the open mouth expression! In the series, Hamtaro and his hamster friends speak to one another like humans do, however they also have this little ham-ham language (I think it's called 'Ham Chat'), with specific sounds and words for things. This expression makes me imagine that Hamtaro is saying 'Oopaa!', which is something the hamsters say when they see something they want and are excited.

This is the third style that you can display your Nendoroid in. Adorable closed eyes, and paw posed in the V-sign/Peace Sign, that is so iconic in Japanese animation and kawaii culture. This style just makes Hamtaro look so precious and friendly and like he's posing for a photo. I also think it makes him look kind of shy, and with the slight rosiness of his cheeks, he could totally be blushing. What's not to adore?

A photo showing an unboxing of a Hamtaro Nendoroid figure. There are various faces and body parts to assemble of this cute orange and white hamster character. The background of the box is an orange and white gingham pattern

Which is your favourite of the variations you can display this super cute Nendoroid in? As I mentioned, mine is the chubby cheeks, sitting down version, but I like all of them for different reasons, and think that it's awesome to have so many options. Overall, I am very impressed with my first Nendoroid, even if it is a little tough to pull apart and put back together! It has opened up a whole new rabbit hole for me and I can already hear my bank account screaming.

I was so delighted to be able to get this figure so easily here in the UK, as I know it can be difficult to source certain Nendoroids without ordering directly from Japan. I got mine from Gamersheek, after the recommendation of a friend who preordered hers from them (shoutout of Nat, for always helping me bring kawaii goodies into my life!). The figure is available for £49.95, and there's an option to pay in 3 with PayPal, which I was very glad about. I'm pretty sure that the shipping was free as well. Thank you Gamersheek, for the quick delivery and for helping me to add this absolute gem of a figure to my collection!

A photo showing a figure of an orange and white hamster character from the anime series Hamtaro. He has chubby cheek pouches and is eating a black and white sunflower seed.

I took SO MANY photos in preparation for this blog post, as it was just impossible not to! This smol guy deserves to be shown off, but I have done my best to refrain from filling this post with all the photos! I just had to add this one in at the end. Some final thoughts I would like to mention about this figure is how smooth the material is, the quality just feels so good, and all of the little details add so much to the finished look, e.g. the whiskers, the dash of blue in the eyes, the fluff on the edge of the inner ears. I couldn't get a photo I liked showing the front of the box, as it was too bright and the light was reflecting off the plastic screen, but the Nendoroid is No.1615.

I hope you all enjoyed reading today's post :) It's been fun to nerd out over figures again, as I feel like I've not properly done that for a while. Let me know if you'd like me to do the same when I get my second Nendo. I'm crossing my fingers that the Good Smile Company release all of the main characters from the Hamtaro series, if not all then at least Oxnard and Bijou. Who else has watched the show? Do you have a favourite ham-ham? My favourite characters growing up were Sandy and Cappy, so I would love to see them in Nendoroid form some day!

Thank you for reading!

Do you own any Nendoroids? Which one is at the top of your wishlist?

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

Hey guys! Happy Friday! Today marks the end of my Spoopy Unboxing posts. It's the last Friday of the month, Halloween will be fast upon us! I have really enjoyed collecting some new blind box series and I am pretty sad that there's not a couple more friday's left to go! I hope that you've enjoyed finding out what figures my boxes revealed as much as I've enjoyed showing you. So without further ado, here is my last round of Halloweeny unboxing...

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

I have been after some blind bags from the Pint Size Heroes range from Funko for a while now. Although I have watched so many unboxing videos of these types of figures over on Youtube, I was really curious to see for myself how much detail and quality would be put into such tiny figures. I was definitely impressed by what I found! For such miniature figures, they are very good quality with a lovely paintjob. There are quite a few different series of the Pint Size Heroes available: Spiderman ones, WWE ones, Sci-fi, Steven Universe, Disney ones.

Personally, I was most excited about the Horror ones and The Nightmare Before Christmas ones, however this collection is pretty new and I've only managed to find them on Forbidden Planet for pre-order. I managed to find the Horror Pint Size Heroes blind bags that I will be reviewing today, on a online store called Geek Shack. They were also a pound cheaper here than the other websites that had them for sale, at only £3.99 each! I bought five. Keep scrolling to find out which figures I got...

My first blind bag revealed mini Mr Beetlejuice himself! I absolutely love his cheeky grin and sinister expression; it really reflects his personality in the movie, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). I like how his tongue is peeping out there too, haha. I'm lovin' his black & white pinstripe suit because of how eye-catching it is and how well it contrasts with his awesome green hair! The purple colouration around his eyes is cool too, and he's such a great figure. I was very happy to be off on such a good start!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

OH MY GOSH! I am reallllllyy happy that I got Chucky!! He's a fabulous and very iconic horror character and I think this Pint Size Heroes version of him is so freakin' adorable! I am very much impressed with all of detail that's gone into his design! All of the colours too, he's a very vibrant little figure! The attention to detail on the Chucky figure is fantastic! I mean, just look at the miniscule 'Good Guys' lettering on his dungaree pocket. In the movie franchise, the doll that the main character possesses is from a line called 'Good Guys' so it's awesome that they've included this small detail.

My favourite part of the design is all of the scaring and stitching on Chucky's face, which looks brillant when combined with his evil smirk. His ginger hair is wonderful too as it has a textured look. Chucky is one of the figures that I most wanted so I'm honestly over the moon!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

Upon checking out which figures were available in the Horror Pint Size Heroes blind bags, Carrie was not one of the figures that I wanted the most, however after actually getting her in the third bag I opened, she's definitely one of my favourites now! Just look how amazing she looks!? If you're a fan of Funko's Pop! vinyl figures, you may have seen that they recently brought out a Carrie version and this figure is also fashioned after the well-known scene from the 1976 film, the scene where the protagonist is covered in pig's blood by her high school bullies. I would love to add this Pop! to my collection, and I'm also very glad that this Pint Size Heroes version is designed to resemble this scene too. This is the part of the movie where Carrie's personality really changes from a shy, quiet girl to a badass horror character, and so I'm very happy that they've given this mini figure a smirk to show this. I love the way the blood is dripping down her face and how she has a few speckles on her arms and cheek. Doesn't she just look so cool!?

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

I have to admit that the only reason I want this figure is so that I can complete the whole set. As much as I think Elvira as a character is gorgeous and very cool, I am yet to watch her 1988 movie, Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark. Maybe I should add it to my Halloween night watch-list! Have you ever seen the movie? Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments. It does make me laugh that on every single figure I've seen of Elvira across Funko's many collections, they always make sure to highlight her clevage. I know she's an alternative celebrity crush icon, but it's just funny to see that even on the tiniest of figures, this is not left out of the design.

What I like most of this figure is the pretty colours of her eyeshadow, it does look lovely, and I also think the knife on her belt is an awesome little detail too. One of Elvira's most eye-catching features is her big hair, so I like how this has been incorperated into the design. I'm disappointed though that on the figure I received, there is a mistake and her hair has a massive dent on the right size of the figure :( It is somewhat visible on my photograph... see how the sides of her head don't match in shape? So I will have to open a few extra bling bags to try and get her again, this time hopefully undamaged.

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

Yayy! I got another of my favourites! I was feeling very lucky that I didn't get any duplicates in my blind bags and that I got two of the characters at the top of my wishlist!! If you're not much of a horror fan and don't know who Pinhead is, he's the leader of a group of creatures from Hell, known as cenobites, in the Hellraiser horror movie franchise. Hellraiser, especially Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth, is one of my top five horror movies. If you're a fan of continous gore, then I recommend that you watch these movies!

Something that I really like about this Pinhead figure is how they've managed to include all of the weapons on his outfit and also his exposed, bloody ribs, on such a small space. It is printed on rather than painted on, which I prefer on a miniature figure as there's less room for error. The coolest part of his figure though is obviously all of the pins in his head and just the way it looks! Due to the size of the figures, they couldn't really add much detail to his 'pins' but they will look great as little silver bumps across his entire head and face. It's a 10/10 from me!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

Ta-da! So here's all of the characters that I unboxed (or should I say unbagged?). Which is your favourite out of all of the ones I got?

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

In the Pint Size Heroes Horror collection, there are twelve figures to collect and what's great is that they all have a 1 in 12 rarity, which means you have a better chance of collecting all of the characters! The characters that I wanted most of all were Freddy Krueger, Chucky, Pennywise the Clown, Pinhead and Michael Myers. Which one would you most want to receive?

I was supposed to take a photograph of the back of the packaging to show you that they have misprinted it (oops)! All of the blind bags I got and all the ones I've seen on Youtube have an incorrect packaging which shows two identical Gremlins in the collection, but when we open up the bags and take out the checklist leaflet inside, it shows a Gremlin and then another character who you can see on the bottom row in the middle. This guy is Krampus, and he's the figure missing on the back of the blind bag. Silly Funko!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #4

How amazing do my new figures look all lined up next to one another!? I can't wait to get all twelve and have them displayed on a shelf in my bedroom, when I can finally start the decorating process. I love the chibi design of the Pint Size Heroes, with their oversized heads and tiny bodies. I love how different they all look to each other and how much they mirror the movie characters they are designed after. They all look bloody awesome and I've certainly got a mighty need now to invest in more Pint Size Heroes. I am well and truely obsessed with collectible figures! I'm going to be overrun with them soon, but I don't care!

I don't want to end this post because it means it's the finale of my Spoopy Unboxings (for this year at least :p haha!) but Stranger Things is calling me so thus I must go! Who else going to be binge-watching season 2 over the weekend?

Thankyou for reading!

Have my Spoopy Unboxing posts persuaded you to buy some for yourself?

October 2017 Pop In A Box

Hey everyone! It's been a ridiculously long time since my last Pop in a Box post! Who's missed them? I missed receiving my monthly Funko Pop! subscription so much! I received my last one back in January, just before ESA decided to leave me with no income despite being unable to work due to my mental illnesses. Let's not get into that though, because I'll go off on a rant haha! My regular followers will know that I appealed the government's decision (a very long & stressful process >.<) and won my case! I have finally been able to get so many elements of my life back on track, and have also been able to treat myself a little. Because after 7 months with no money at all, I bloody deserved it ^.^ And thus, Pop in a Box has returned to my life and I couldn't be happier! My Pop figure collection was getting neglected! So in today's post, I'm going to show you the figures that arrived at my door early this month. Enjoy!

October 2017 Pop In A Box

If you haven't read any of my previous Pop in a Box posts or even heard of this subscription before, let me tell you all about it. Pop in a Box is a service that offers a monthly subscription, containing anything from 1 to 12 (I'm sure it's 12 but don't quote me on that haha) Pop! vinyl figures by Funko. You may be thinking... what if I get figures that I don't like? Well, the service stops this happening with their thumbs up/thumbs down system. Basically, you can use this to select the individual Pop's you'd love to receive and which you never want to get. There's an option to select if you already have a particular Pop! in your collection too to ensure that you're not sent it. You get a discount on the price of each figure with the more you get each month. I get three every time, which costs me £20-something with free shipping. Here's a link to the Pop in a Box website, where you can also purchase one-off figures too. There's an awesome deal, 5 figures for £40!

October 2017 Pop In A Box

Since I used my new Ron figure for the thumbnail photograph, I'll start with him :) I love this figure, it's super cute and really eye-catching. This version of Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series (there's a few different Ron figures available) is my favourite. Mostly because it's based on his character in the third movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, which is my favourite of the Harry Potter movies. I really like the style of Ron's hair on this particular Pop; it has a lot of detail and looks textured. I also love how bright the ginger colour is. He looks fabulous! I also really like Ron's outfit with the messy yet very cosy looking jumper (I'm also happy that it's jumper weather now too!).

Although I love this figure, if it wasn't for the fact that Ron is holding his rat, Scabbers, I wouldn't have given it a thumbs up. How flippin' adorable is his little rat!? It's just peeping at us! I love Harry Potter but I only wanted to collect my most favourite characters from the series: Luna & Snape I already have, and I would love a figure of Professor Lupin too. Now that I have Ron, I doesn't feel right that I don't have Harry and Hermione. I need to get his best friends to join him! Fellow Harry Potter fans, who's your favourite character(s)?

The next figure I received in my subscription was...

October 2017 Pop In A Box

Yayyy! I got James Hetfield from the heavy metal band, Metallica. I have been a fan of Metallica since my early teens; they are actually one of my all-time favourite bands. James Hetfield is awesome and will forever be one of my celeb crushes *heart eyed emojis needed here*! This figure is fashioned after James Hetfield's look from the 80's when the band was established. I am very happy about this because what's not to love about long hair and a dude who can rock a mustache!? I very much like the stance of James' figure. It represents his stage presence really well! He makes a very cool figure! Another thing that I like about this Pop! is that James' blonde hair is a realistic-looking shade, and also how epic is that mini guitar!? You can get all four members of the band in Pop version. I really like that Funko have released a Rock musicians collection!

OH MY GOSH, I GOT AN ELEVEN POP! Eeeeee! If you know me well, you'll know that I am a big fan of the Netflix sci-fi, horror-esque series Stranger Things, so you can imagine my delight when I opened my subscription box and discovered I had Eleven. There are so many reasons why I love Stranger Things, but the main reason has to be because of little Eleven. She's such a badass character. Don't you agree? (Actress Millie Bobby Brown does such an amazing job!). I wanted an Eleven figure so much that I put a thumbs up to all of the versions available to give myself a better chance of getting her, but to be honest even thought I now have her, I would still happily have all of her other variations. My top one is Eleven with her shaved hair and her beloved waffles in hand!

As sad as it is to see El in her hospital gown all beaten up, as it makes me picture the scenes in the show, I still really like this figure. I'm certainly impressed with how detailed the bruising on her face looks! So realistic. Aww no though, isn't it sad that she's holding carrot sticks in her hand. She needs her Eggos! My new Eleven in Hospital Gown Pop! is the best out of all three of the characters I was sent. I just love her so much! I cannot wait for Season 2 of Stranger Things to start.. TOMORROW GUYS!

October 2017 Pop In A Box

Overall, I am delighted with my October Pop in a Box subscription. All three figures that are got are in almost perfect condition with regards to their paint-job, which is hardly ever the case compared with the figures I've received in the past. They always seem to have some little problem, but not this time! All of my boxes were also in the best condition. I am very much looking forward to the start of November when another subscription boxe(s) will be delivered to my door!

Thankyou for reading!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #2

Happy Friday 13th! I'm going to spend my night watching the 2009 adaptation of Friday 13th & another horror movie, although I haven't decided which one yet! I think it's so awesome that Friday has fallen on the 13th day in October, the month dedicated to all things spooky! It's just perfect, and it's even more fantastic that it's Spoopy Unboxing Friday here on my blog!! That is because today I have some horror themed blind boxes to reveal to you all. I've been really excited about these Funko Mystery Minis for a long time, and I'm over the moon that I finally have some of the amazing figures for myself :) I can't wait to show off these little spooky guys! If you didn't catch my last October unboxing, you can read it here. Enjoy!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays

If you've been following my blog for a while, you may know that I absolutely adore everything horror related, anything macabre and gothic. I wouldn't really label myself because I'm an eclectic sort of girl, but I have been more on the alternative side since I was in my early teens. Horror movies are my favourite, mostly the psychological kinds but I also enjoy a good slasher movie. I love gore! I love creepy things, too! So you can imagine my delight when it came to my attention that Funko had released Horror Classics versions of their Mystery Mini figures.

I have watched so many unboxing videos and reviews of them on youtube, and I am very stressed that I can't seem to get ahold of Series 1 (which has all the best characters in my opinion) in the UK or even on eBay without having to pay a ridiculous price for just one blind box! However, since Series 3 is the most recent of the Horror Classics collection, I managed to find them for a decent price and in the UK too. Yayyy! I bought them from online store A1 Toys, for £5.99 per box. So, I won't keep you waiting any longer! Here are the figures that I found inside my Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics S3 blind boxes... there's going to be A LOT of photos in this post!!

Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics

Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics

The first Horror Classics blind box that I opened revealed Regan from The Exorcist (1973), who is a famously iconic horror character. The Exorcist was one of the first horror movies I watched, and it was definitely an awesome movie for the time. It's also pretty spooky when you read into all the strange goings on that surrounded the movie set, as well as involving the cast and crew! I'm glad that the Regan figure is smaller than the others in the set, as it would have been a little annoying to have a character who's a 12 year old child the same size as the rest. I really like the contrast of her pale blue innocent-looking nightie to the rest of the figure, to her demonic stratched up face.

I love the look of her face: those cuts, the vomit and the angry 'GRR!' expression of her mouth! The figure has a nice zombified green tint to it which is great, but my favourite feature of Regan is the vomit running down her front because it instantly makes me picture the possession scenes in the movie! It's also pretty cool that they've added a few little cuts to her hands. I love Funkos attention to detail on all of their figures in general! There's a bit of a messy paint job on the hair around her face, and usually this would be a shame but in this case, because of her character, it kind of adds to the 'dirty' look, so sort of adds to the character's overall look. Do you agree?

YASSSS! I GOT THE BEETLEJUICE CHARACTER!! Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988) is one of my top five movies to watch around Halloweentime (all year around too of course!); it's just a fabulous ghosty comedy movie, with awesome characters. Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder, was one of my icons growing up. I would always hope to look/dress like her some day, haha! Anyhow, how cool does this figure of Adam look!? I love love love the bloody eyeball hands! It's such a eye-catching, weird figure and I really hope that Funko creates some more Beetlejuice characters in future series! I really like how mundane the characters outfit is, and then to have such a unique head/face... it just looks epic!

If you haven't seen Beetlejuice yet, you seriously need to! I have no complaints about this figure, it was one of the figures that I really wanted to get! I also got a duplicate of this guy in another box I bought, but getting repeats is the nature of blind boxes so I don't mind really.

Okay so how amazing is it that I got Jason Voorhees on Friday 13th!!!? Like wow! If you didn't know, this character is the protagonist in the horror movie franchise, Friday 13th. So basically today is his day and that's why I'll be watching one of the movies later. Is it normal that I would describe this figure as beautiful? Because I think it is!! I'm very impressed with his design, with all of his detailing and features. His tattered and torn outfit looks great, even more so that it shows off the skeletal structures underneath. It's also awesome that they included this on the back of the figure! Additionally, I love that his mask is broken to reveal some of his skeleton face! His hands look cute too, they remind me of the emo-style gloves I used to wear as a teenager, haha!

My favourite parts of this figure though are Jason's bloody axe and his iconic hockey mask! I love how pristine it looks, it's very eye-catching especially in comparison to the dark-colour of the rest of his body. It would have been awesome to see some blood-splattering on it but I do really like it how it is! Even though Jason wasn't one of the characters in Series 3 that I most wanted to get, his design is so fantastic that he's now one of my favourites of the lot! I'm delighted that I got the star of the show on today of all days!

I got Wolfman and he is so adorable! He's one of the easiest figures to get in this set; Wolfman, Elvira and Bruce the shark from Jaws all have a 1/6 chance of being inside your blindbox. I actually ended up getting three of him altogether, and I was not impressed! This character is based on the 1941 Universal Pictures movie The Wolf Man, which I admit I haven't watched. I've not watched many of the classic Universal Pictures horror movies, or many werewolf movies either. I'm happy to receive the Wolfman though because I want to complete this Horror Classics Mystery Mini set (my bank account is not so happy!). I like his claws, they stand out, however the paintjob on them looks pretty bad! Something I do like though is the texture and design of the Wolfman's hair. It certainly looks cool! Have any of you ever seen any of the old Universal Pictures horrors? Which ones would you recommend?

HERE'S JOHNNY!

(I couldn't resist, sorry not sorry). The Shining is one of my top ten horror movies, it's fantastic and actor Jack Nicholson does an absolutely amazing job of the leading role. He plays Jack Torrance, which is who this figure is of and it looks so much like him :) The Grady Twins from the same movie are available in Series 3 and I really really wanted to get them, but I was very glad to get Jack. I actually squealed upon opening his box! I'm very impressed with the intricate detailing of his little teeth, they make his sinister smile look great! I love the way his eyebrows look... they really add to his expression! The axe is awesome, but I wish it had some little pieces of wood on it to symbolise when he axed through the door in the well-known movie scene. Wouldn't that look cool?

I love how the outfits on a lot of these figures have a very simplistic design, with most of them having solid colouring or a basic patterning, but Funko make sure these outfits still have awesome little details that make them look so good. For example, there's details on the both the back and front of Jack's jacket (this made me laugh) to let us know that it's padded and not just a shirt, and pockets on the back of his jeans. Overall, this figure is brilliant!

The final character that I got, other than the duplicates, was the Mummy. As far as I know he's based on the original character from the 1932 The Mummy movie, but I'm not 100%. I'm impressed with his design, how they can make such a simplistic figure with just plain bandages look so cool! I like the different grey/white shades used to highlight the various parts of the figure. I think his solemn expression makes him look really cute! I love his stance, it looks like he's almost saying 'check out my fancy ring'. He's a sassy mummy, haha! His ring is pretty damn awesome though, a lovely golden Scarab beetle. He also has gold outlining around his eyes, and this little detail looks gorgeous. I like how much he stands out next to the other figures because of his colouration, and he's just a really nice figure.

Here are all of the figures that you can collect in Series 3 of the Funko Horror Classics Mystery Minis. The ones that are on the top of my list include Freddy Krueger with the hypodermic needle hands because it's from my favourite A Nightmare on Elm Street movie... Part 3, 'Dream Warriors' from 1987. I also really REALLY want Patrick Bateman from American Psycho (2000), The Grady Twins who I mentioned earlier, Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story (Season 4) and the dad from Beetlejuice who I got! It sucks that the two figures I most want to get are the hardest to collect, with them both having a 1/72 rariety *cry cry*. Altogether I purchased ten boxes and I got the 1/6 Wolfman three times (ugh), the 1/24 Mummy and 1/24 Beetlejuice guy (I got another of these), Jason Voorhees also has a 1/24 rariety and finally, Jack from The Shining is a 1/12 figure, so I didn't do  too bad I guess other than three Wolfman's! I wish I'd have gotten at least one of the other 1/6 characters instead of three of the same, but nevermind.

Look how awesome do my figures look all lined up next to each other!! I'm so so happy that I could finally start collecting this series and I can't wait to have a shelf filled with all fourteen characters! Which is your favourite out of all the figures I received inside my blind boxes? They are beautifully designed boxes too, with a stereotypical horror-esque white tiles wall all spattered with blood, and some of the characters on the box. I love how the figures have been designed to be cute but all of the characters best features have been included and in a way that makes them awesome little horror icons but still with a cutesy appeal :) Very spoopy indeed! Which figure out of entire collection is your favourite?

I hope you all had fun reading this post and having a nosey at all of the figures I got. I'm definitely enjoying this mini blog series and I can't wait to share next weeks with you all!

Thankyou for reading!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #1

Hello guys! A few weeks ago now I came across the latest edition of Pusheen the Cat blind boxes whilst scrolling through facebook. They were Halloween-themed and absolutely gorgeous! I kept my eye out on youtube for the next few days waiting for these new boxes to appear on the channel of one of my favourite toy reviewers, and finally the wonderful PSToyReviews shared an unboxing! Once I'd seen the individual plushies inside the Pusheen Halloween Surprise Plush boxes, I had a mighty need to get some of my own! Whilst browsing around looking for a UK supplier, I was inspired with an idea! I thought it would be awesome to share a weekly series on my blog over October (aka everyday is Halloween month!) unboxing a variety of cute and spooky themed blind boxes. A combination of two of my favourite things, Halloween and collectables! I have been super excited about getting these posts started, so here's my first edition :) I hope that you all enjoy these posts, and be sure to check back every Friday this month for more!

Pusheen Surprise Plush Halloween

I can't believe to be honest that it's taken me this long to get myself some of the Pusheen Surprise Plush boxes by Gund! There's so many different kinds and I've been in love with every one I've seen on unboxing videos (watching these videos takes up about 50% of my life; not even sorry!). I've just never seen them around on the collectable online stores that I frequent and so ordering some just sliped my mind I guess. Pusheen is such an adorable character and I'm slightly obsessed, so it's about bloody time really that I ordered one! Are you a fan of Pusheen? Have you ever bought a Pusheen blind box?

There are eight plush keyrings available to collect in these lovely surprise boxes! One of these is a mystery plush, which makes things even more exciting when you're opening blind boxes! Something that's a little different about the particular boxes that I ordered is that the keyring is different to the plushies I've seen on the unboxing videos I've watched. They all seem to have those keychains made up of little metal balls, if that makes sense haha! I'm really glad though that mine have a clip style keyring because I prefer these, as they are more secure and less likely to come off my bag.

How gorgeous is the selection of plushies inside these boxes!? I would be happy to receive any of them, however my favourite is the original Pusheen sitting in the Jack-O-Lantern, closely followed by the Frankenstein kitty. I'd love to hear which one you'd most like to get inside your blind box in the comments!

Something that's wonderful about these blind boxes is how well they are decorated, with the most adorable illustrations! I'm lovin' the Pusheen haunted house. It's the only haunted house I'd happily be trapped in! So now it's time to reveal the plushies that I found inside my boxes. I ordered two surprise boxes from a UK online store called ThreeLittleBears. They cost £6.95 each, which seems pretty pricey but the quality and design of the plush keyrings makes up for it in my opinion! Keep scrolling to see the lastest editions to my Pusheen merch collection...

Here's the plush that I got inside the first blind box I opened; it's the cutest little bat-cat ever! If you've been following my blog for some time, you may have seen my Pusheen Box subscription posts and remember my Autumn box? If not, you can find it here. Anyhow, inside each of these quartly subscription boxes you get an exclusive vinyl figure which matches the theme of the box. Since Halloween is in Autumn, the figure was designed as a Pusheen bat, and it looks almost identical to this plushie!

I love the shade of purple they've used for this plush keyring, it's mauve i think? It's such a well-sewn, fabulous quality item and I'm certainly impressed. Something that I was curious to discover for myself was how soft the material would be, since almost every youtuber I've seen reviewing them has commented on how lovely they feel! I can definitely agree now that I've held one myself. They feel so velvety! Now onto the final plush...

Pusheen Surprise Plush Halloween

Well I didn't get any of the keyrings that I really wanted, but I'm so happy with this next Pusheen! Seriously, how adorable is this little guy!? Pusheen looks like she's trying to copy off her humans and attempt to dress up for Halloween, with the way this mummy character is designed. So sweet! I like how the material used for the bandages is different to the one used for the plushie themselves as it's a nice contrast. I love the simplicity of the overall apperance of this plushie too, and the fact that Pusheen herself is the original grey colour :) It's such a pretty grey shade as well.

Another feature of these plush keyrings that I adore is their whiskers, that they are not just printed/stitched on. An additional thing that makes these products feel such a great quality is how sturdy the clip keyring is and how well it's attached to the plush. I can tell it would take a lot to detach and that makes me feel safer about putting it onto my bags without the fear of losing it when I'm out and about! Below is a closer look at the keyring...

Pusheen Surprise Plush Halloween

I am very much delighted with my new spoopy Pusheen keyrings; I can't wait to adorn my bags with them and show them off! They are really cute and have such lovely, unique designs and have definitely encouraged me to buy more from the Gund surprise plush range, who sell a lot of adorable well-known characters such as Grumpy Cat and Boo the Pomeranian. It's the nature of blind boxes that you don't always get the ones you wanted, but the Series 4 Halloween Pusheen range is wonderful and so I can't really be disappointed with the ones I did receive.

These plushies are quite literally the definition of spoopy, which if you haven't heard of the term before reading my post relates to a meme and has been coined to describe anything that is funny and spooky, or cute and spooky, all at once. I thought Spoopy Unboxing would be the perfect way to describe the unveiling of the blind boxed goodies that I am going to be showcasing and reviewing for the next four weeks (although I can see myself falling in love so much that I can't resist trying to complete the collections). I'll end this post with a photograph of my Halloween cuties together.
