Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #2

Happy Friday 13th! I'm going to spend my night watching the 2009 adaptation of Friday 13th & another horror movie, although I haven't decided which one yet! I think it's so awesome that Friday has fallen on the 13th day in October, the month dedicated to all things spooky! It's just perfect, and it's even more fantastic that it's Spoopy Unboxing Friday here on my blog!! That is because today I have some horror themed blind boxes to reveal to you all. I've been really excited about these Funko Mystery Minis for a long time, and I'm over the moon that I finally have some of the amazing figures for myself :) I can't wait to show off these little spooky guys! If you didn't catch my last October unboxing, you can read it here. Enjoy!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays

If you've been following my blog for a while, you may know that I absolutely adore everything horror related, anything macabre and gothic. I wouldn't really label myself because I'm an eclectic sort of girl, but I have been more on the alternative side since I was in my early teens. Horror movies are my favourite, mostly the psychological kinds but I also enjoy a good slasher movie. I love gore! I love creepy things, too! So you can imagine my delight when it came to my attention that Funko had released Horror Classics versions of their Mystery Mini figures.

I have watched so many unboxing videos and reviews of them on youtube, and I am very stressed that I can't seem to get ahold of Series 1 (which has all the best characters in my opinion) in the UK or even on eBay without having to pay a ridiculous price for just one blind box! However, since Series 3 is the most recent of the Horror Classics collection, I managed to find them for a decent price and in the UK too. Yayyy! I bought them from online store A1 Toys, for £5.99 per box. So, I won't keep you waiting any longer! Here are the figures that I found inside my Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics S3 blind boxes... there's going to be A LOT of photos in this post!!

The first Horror Classics blind box that I opened revealed Regan from The Exorcist (1973), who is a famously iconic horror character. The Exorcist was one of the first horror movies I watched, and it was definitely an awesome movie for the time. It's also pretty spooky when you read into all the strange goings on that surrounded the movie set, as well as involving the cast and crew! I'm glad that the Regan figure is smaller than the others in the set, as it would have been a little annoying to have a character who's a 12 year old child the same size as the rest. I really like the contrast of her pale blue innocent-looking nightie to the rest of the figure, to her demonic stratched up face.

I love the look of her face: those cuts, the vomit and the angry 'GRR!' expression of her mouth! The figure has a nice zombified green tint to it which is great, but my favourite feature of Regan is the vomit running down her front because it instantly makes me picture the possession scenes in the movie! It's also pretty cool that they've added a few little cuts to her hands. I love Funkos attention to detail on all of their figures in general! There's a bit of a messy paint job on the hair around her face, and usually this would be a shame but in this case, because of her character, it kind of adds to the 'dirty' look, so sort of adds to the character's overall look. Do you agree?

YASSSS! I GOT THE BEETLEJUICE CHARACTER!! Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988) is one of my top five movies to watch around Halloweentime (all year around too of course!); it's just a fabulous ghosty comedy movie, with awesome characters. Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder, was one of my icons growing up. I would always hope to look/dress like her some day, haha! Anyhow, how cool does this figure of Adam look!? I love love love the bloody eyeball hands! It's such a eye-catching, weird figure and I really hope that Funko creates some more Beetlejuice characters in future series! I really like how mundane the characters outfit is, and then to have such a unique head/face... it just looks epic!

If you haven't seen Beetlejuice yet, you seriously need to! I have no complaints about this figure, it was one of the figures that I really wanted to get! I also got a duplicate of this guy in another box I bought, but getting repeats is the nature of blind boxes so I don't mind really.

Okay so how amazing is it that I got Jason Voorhees on Friday 13th!!!? Like wow! If you didn't know, this character is the protagonist in the horror movie franchise, Friday 13th. So basically today is his day and that's why I'll be watching one of the movies later. Is it normal that I would describe this figure as beautiful? Because I think it is!! I'm very impressed with his design, with all of his detailing and features. His tattered and torn outfit looks great, even more so that it shows off the skeletal structures underneath. It's also awesome that they included this on the back of the figure! Additionally, I love that his mask is broken to reveal some of his skeleton face! His hands look cute too, they remind me of the emo-style gloves I used to wear as a teenager, haha!

My favourite parts of this figure though are Jason's bloody axe and his iconic hockey mask! I love how pristine it looks, it's very eye-catching especially in comparison to the dark-colour of the rest of his body. It would have been awesome to see some blood-splattering on it but I do really like it how it is! Even though Jason wasn't one of the characters in Series 3 that I most wanted to get, his design is so fantastic that he's now one of my favourites of the lot! I'm delighted that I got the star of the show on today of all days!

I got Wolfman and he is so adorable! He's one of the easiest figures to get in this set; Wolfman, Elvira and Bruce the shark from Jaws all have a 1/6 chance of being inside your blindbox. I actually ended up getting three of him altogether, and I was not impressed! This character is based on the 1941 Universal Pictures movie The Wolf Man, which I admit I haven't watched. I've not watched many of the classic Universal Pictures horror movies, or many werewolf movies either. I'm happy to receive the Wolfman though because I want to complete this Horror Classics Mystery Mini set (my bank account is not so happy!). I like his claws, they stand out, however the paintjob on them looks pretty bad! Something I do like though is the texture and design of the Wolfman's hair. It certainly looks cool! Have any of you ever seen any of the old Universal Pictures horrors? Which ones would you recommend?

HERE'S JOHNNY!

(I couldn't resist, sorry not sorry). The Shining is one of my top ten horror movies, it's fantastic and actor Jack Nicholson does an absolutely amazing job of the leading role. He plays Jack Torrance, which is who this figure is of and it looks so much like him :) The Grady Twins from the same movie are available in Series 3 and I really really wanted to get them, but I was very glad to get Jack. I actually squealed upon opening his box! I'm very impressed with the intricate detailing of his little teeth, they make his sinister smile look great! I love the way his eyebrows look... they really add to his expression! The axe is awesome, but I wish it had some little pieces of wood on it to symbolise when he axed through the door in the well-known movie scene. Wouldn't that look cool?

I love how the outfits on a lot of these figures have a very simplistic design, with most of them having solid colouring or a basic patterning, but Funko make sure these outfits still have awesome little details that make them look so good. For example, there's details on the both the back and front of Jack's jacket (this made me laugh) to let us know that it's padded and not just a shirt, and pockets on the back of his jeans. Overall, this figure is brilliant!

The final character that I got, other than the duplicates, was the Mummy. As far as I know he's based on the original character from the 1932 The Mummy movie, but I'm not 100%. I'm impressed with his design, how they can make such a simplistic figure with just plain bandages look so cool! I like the different grey/white shades used to highlight the various parts of the figure. I think his solemn expression makes him look really cute! I love his stance, it looks like he's almost saying 'check out my fancy ring'. He's a sassy mummy, haha! His ring is pretty damn awesome though, a lovely golden Scarab beetle. He also has gold outlining around his eyes, and this little detail looks gorgeous. I like how much he stands out next to the other figures because of his colouration, and he's just a really nice figure.

Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics

Here are all of the figures that you can collect in Series 3 of the Funko Horror Classics Mystery Minis. The ones that are on the top of my list include Freddy Krueger with the hypodermic needle hands because it's from my favourite A Nightmare on Elm Street movie... Part 3, 'Dream Warriors' from 1987. I also really REALLY want Patrick Bateman from American Psycho (2000), The Grady Twins who I mentioned earlier, Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story (Season 4) and the dad from Beetlejuice who I got! It sucks that the two figures I most want to get are the hardest to collect, with them both having a 1/72 rariety *cry cry*. Altogether I purchased ten boxes and I got the 1/6 Wolfman three times (ugh), the 1/24 Mummy and 1/24 Beetlejuice guy (I got another of these), Jason Voorhees also has a 1/24 rariety and finally, Jack from The Shining is a 1/12 figure, so I didn't do  too bad I guess other than three Wolfman's! I wish I'd have gotten at least one of the other 1/6 characters instead of three of the same, but nevermind.

Funko Mystery Mini Horror Classics
Look how awesome do my figures look all lined up next to each other!! I'm so so happy that I could finally start collecting this series and I can't wait to have a shelf filled with all fourteen characters! Which is your favourite out of all the figures I received inside my blind boxes? They are beautifully designed boxes too, with a stereotypical horror-esque white tiles wall all spattered with blood, and some of the characters on the box. I love how the figures have been designed to be cute but all of the characters best features have been included and in a way that makes them awesome little horror icons but still with a cutesy appeal :) Very spoopy indeed! Which figure out of entire collection is your favourite?

I hope you all had fun reading this post and having a nosey at all of the figures I got. I'm definitely enjoying this mini blog series and I can't wait to share next weeks with you all!

Thankyou for reading!

What I Got For My Birthday

Hello lovelies! Did you know that I turned 25 on the 1st October!? It's taken me so long to get this post up but finally here it is! I love having a nosey at what other people got for their birthdays so I thought I'd share my presents with you guys and tell you all about how I celebrated this year :) I can't believe that I'm actually 25! I feel like I was 15 years old, a socially-awkward alternative nerdy school girl spending my weekends hanging around with a huge bunch of teenagers in the town centre, obsessing over My Chemical Romance, I blinked, and it's suddenly 10 years later! Although I'm still a socially-awkward alternative nerd, so nothing much has changed to be honest, haha!

What I Got For My Birthday | Birthday Blog

This year, my birthday fell on a Sunday and since my family usually come over on this day anyway for Sunday roast dinner, we decided to celebrate by having a birthday buffet instead. For a fussy eater like me, buffets are wonderful because I can pick and choose what I want, and we had a lovely mix of savoury and sweet foods. We also had a chocolate gateau for dessert with whipped cream, and since my house was crowded like it typically is on Sunday's, there were a lot of people to sing Happy Birthday to me and watch me blow out the candles on top of my cake... which of course was pretty mortifying for me! It was nice to be able to spend time with my nieces and nephews on my birthday :) I opened my presents before everyone arrived, when it was just me, my mom and my sister. Aurora was so excited about the wrapping paper, and watching her jumping around and tearing up the paper was the highlight of my morning. She's too adorable!  Check out the photo I shared of her on Instagram that day!

So, here's what my mom bought me for my birthday. My dad gave me an early Birthday present back in  June when he paid for my Squirtle plushie from Build-A-Bear, which I adore! (you can see my Build-A-Bear pokemon collection here if you want). Before I show you my presents, I just needed to show you the wrapping paper that my mom used...

HOW FLIPPIN' CUTE ARE THESE WRAPPING PAPERS!? Thankfully, these two pieces are what was left of the rolls so I can keep some! Just look how adorable these prints are though. I'm not sure where this paper is from, I want to say Primark but I can ask if you're interested. Just let me know in the comments :) Keep scrolling to see the goodies that were hidden inside my super cute wrapping paper! *be prepared for a pic heavy post from now on in*

The first present that I unwrapped was the 'Wild Woodland' colouring book, it's a really lovely little colouring book filled with gorgeous fauna and flora illustrations. There's also a positive quote on the back of each page which is sweet. I can't wait to get colouring in it! I have been asking for some new felt tip pens for a while so I am super happy that I got some for my birthday, and I am curious to try them out. We always get chocolate for special occasions, whether it's for birthdays or Christmas, and it didn't take long at all for me to devour them! It was my first time trying the Maltesers Teasers bar and omg it's delicious. It might actually be one of my top five favourite chocolate bars now! Have you ever had one? If not, then you need to seriously go buy one :)

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know how much I love surprises, mostly through all of my posts about blind boxes! I just love being surprised and so when asked what I wanted for my birthday, I asked for two items that I've had my eye on for a while, but wanted the rest to be a surprise. How about you? Do you love or hate surprises/having to wait to find out what your presents are? My sister is the completely opposite, she hates surprises. She was one of those kids who would search for her presents before the day, haha! One of the things I asked for was the Rimmel Lasting Finish primer, since I've been meaning to experiment with primers for a while and I didn't want to buy a more expensive brand for my first one. Speaking of surprises, those two mini tsum tsums (Disney's Goofy & the Cheshire Cat) are from one of those packs where you get one visible figure and then one surprise figure. I'm a big fan of tsum tsums so I couldn't wait to take photos, I opened it right away!

I really love my new dreamcatcher! I have been pinning these style of 'bohemian' dreamcatchers over on my Pinterest for a while now because they are really pretty. I was delighted when I discovered that I'd gotten one, since I never told my mom about them or how much I wanted one. I think that the doily in the centre of the dreamcatcher is lovely!

I am in love with my new Pokemon notebook! It's a really nice shade of blue and the design is so bold and eye-catching. I love the excited expressions on the starter pokemons faces! They looked just as happy to see me as I was to see that notebook when I peeled back my wrapping paper! I will forever love getting new notebooks as presents, and this one has popped into my life at the perfect time as I was after a new blogging ideas journal. My mom recently found a little store in a local town that sells Japanese and Korean products, and that's where my new pens are from. They are so kawaii and I love them!

I showed my mom another bell jar ornament that was really similar to this beautiful white rabbit one that she bought me for my birthday, and I am very happy because this one is so much prettier than the one I showed her! I finally have a bell jar ornament after wanting one for years, and I can't wait to display it in my newly decorated bedroom when it's all finished! I received some other ornamental gifts too: a bunny tealight holder & a tsum tsum money bank. I think the money box is lovely. I love the choice of colours and the cute characters all over it, however it's sad that you have to smash this type of money bank when you are ready to empty it. I don't think I could bring myself to break it so I don't know if I will ever actually use it for it's designed purpose. I'm pretty sure that my mom is a mind reader, considering I was thinking last month about how much I needed a new tealight holder, then viola! she gets me one, a super cute bunny one too!

This amazing TokiDoki backpack was the other item that I asked for from my birthday wishlist, which I learnt was even more fabulous than expected when I saw it in person. We ordered it from the UK store, Artbox; it sells an array of adorable items and I usually accumulate a huge wishlist every time I browse the website! Go check them out if you love cute Japanese and Korean products like me :) So yeah, the print of this backpack is fantastic, the colour is really vibrant! The inside of the bag is a bright, almost-neon pink and the whole thing is really spacious, including the front zip pouch. I'm really happy to find some of my favourite TokiDoki characters on there, including Latte, the cactus puppies and kittens, and also lots of unicornos! I can't wait to rock this bag when I next go on a day out!

The presents in the photograph above are actually from my best friend, and I love them so I couldn't not include them in today's post! I had been hoping to get my hand's on some Nyx Cosmetics products for a while when Jess surprised me with this pretty 'go-to goodies' set which includes a matte lipstick, a lip liner and an eyeshadow palette with the most gorgeous shades in. I have never used lip liner before so I'm looking forward to trying it out. I think these shades are great for Autumn as well! The other prezzie that Jess got me is this rabbit/chinchilla/wannabee Horlicks monster that is so bloody cute and it also feels really soft. I may have mentioned on some of my previous birthday posts, I can't remember... but my best friend & I have birthday's that are really close, so for the last few years we've been having a joint-birthday celebration.

This year we really weren't in the mood for a drunken night out so we instead decided to stay overnight in Manchester city, which is about an hour from our hometown via train. Jess had been eyeing up the Birthday Cake freakshake at TGI Friday's for ages so of course we had to go there whilst we were in Manchester. My meal was yummy, but omgosh my dessert was delicious! When both our desserts arrived at the table, even some of the people around us stared at them! It was pretty funny :) We spent most of our time in the city shopping, and it was lovely to spend time together just a day or so before my birthday!

To finish today's post, I wanted to share with you all the lovely cards I received from my loved ones this year. The awesome festive llama card that greets you at the start of the post is from one of my brothers. As for the other cards, the owl card is from another of my brothers, the teddy bear in the tea cup is from my dad, the fabulous unicorn card is from Jess, and the koala-tea (I love puns!) is from another of my brothers & his family. The adorable TokiDoki card is from my sister, and I love it so much more because Latte is one of my favourite characters. However, my favourite card of the lot is the shiny pokemon card from my mom! I think it's so cool how the charmander on the card matches the one of my new notebook!! Most of these cards will definitely be added onto the art wall in my bedroom :) I hope you enjoyed reading about my birthday and I'm glad that I could share my happiness with you all. I still keep forgetting I'm now 25, although I have finally remembered to change my age on all of my social media!

Thankyou for reading!

Have a wonderful day guys!

What I've Been Watching: September Edition

Hi everyone! I've been super stressed for the last few days... our internet has been messing up constantly and so I've not been able to blog for what feels like ages! I even had to use the data hotspot from my iPhone just to get Friday's post up! I'm so relieved that it's all back in working order... that is for now!! We are currently in the process of changing our internet provider so hopefully I won't have to deal with a continuous lack of connection and annoyingly slow streaming for much longer :( Here's the latest in my monthly 'What I've Been Watching' series, finally! I always try to keep spoilers to a minimum and just give you all a rough outline of what the movies or tv shows I've watched are about; apologies if I end up giving a little too much away. I hope you all enjoy reading!

What I've Been Watching Lately

 The Frankenstein Chronicles (2015)

This TV show was brought to my attention by an advert that kept popping up whenever I was watching something on ITV and that advert definitely sparked my interest right away when I noticed that it was a period drama with a spooky/fantasy/paranormal twist. That's my favourite genre when it comes to shows. However, the thing that most compelled me to watch it was the fact that Sean Bean was playing the main character! The show is set in Victorian London, where after discovering a strange apparently reassembled body washed up on the shores of the Thames river, plus several other similarily grotesque bodies, a police inspector suspects the culprit might be scientist trying to bring people back from the dead. It is a new take on the 19th century novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and I really enjoyed it. I have just found out that ITV have recently started filming a second season too!

A Cure For Wellness (2016)

I wanted to watch this movie when I discovered that actress Mia Goth was in it, because she was fabulous in her role in the two-part movie, Nymphomaniac, which I thought was great! She has very unique look and in this movie in particular, I realised that she has a look that would be awesome in a horror movie! A Cure For Wellness is defined as a 'science-fiction psychological thriller' movie, in which a young executive is sent to the Swiss Alps to a remote spa centre to inform his company's CEO of a problem that requires him to head back to America. This spa appears to be idyllic, the perfect tranquil location to receive treatment for the stresses of life and for ailments, but the executive (played by Dane DeHann) soon comes to learn that all is not as it seems. There are strange goings on at the wellness centre, patients disappearing and curious 'therapies' available, and it's not long until the lead character discovers the eerie history of the land where the centre is built and about it's previous occupants. I'd say more about what happens but I don't want to spoil it! It's a long movie, 2 hours 26 minutes to be exact, so it is slow in parts but I prefer long movies with more detail, extra time to tell us more about the characters and such. I always enjoy movies with a science or/and medical theme, so I liked it a lot. If you give it a watch, let me know what you think :)

Electrick Children (2012)

Apart from A Cure for Wellness, this was the only other non-horror movie I watched last month (I went to see the new IT movie and it was AMAZING!). I'm a big fan of different movies, the kind that are released at film festivals, independent ones with quirky storylines and often a more realistic feel than mainstream movies. I like discovering new actors and the fact that these movies are for the most part less dramatic, without those scenes added just for the entertainment factor, but this does not mean that they are any less entralling with dynamic, interesting characters! Electrick Children is not the typical coming-of-age movie, even though it is based on a journey of self discovery, of acceptance and friendship. The leading role played by an actress known for 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)', Julia Garner, is a 15 year old girl who has been raised in a polygamous Mormon community, so a big theme of the movie is her discovery of the World outside of her religious upbringing, which has left her very naive and impressionable. Without giving too much away, she discovers that she is pregnant and believes that a forbidden cassette tape must have had something to do with it after she listened to it. This is how little she understands about reproduction, however it may also be her mind's way to coping with the trauma of abuse. After her family tell her that her marriage has been arranged, she runs away and goes in search of the artist from the casette tape. Also starring in this movie is Rory Culkin, younger brother of Macaulay Culkin, who I've never seen before so that was cool! Are you a fan of independent movies? I'd love some recommendations!

What I've Been Watching Lately

 Mommy Dead and Dearest (2017)

Last month, I watched A LOT of documentaries and reawakened my passion for them! I absolutely love documentaries, especially documentary movies where the running times are longer than an hour. I am very much into crime documentaries and at the moment, HBO ones seem to be my favourite (although my all-time most beloved documentaries will always be those presented by Louis Theroux!). I've just chosen the two documentaries that I found most interesting to talk about in today's post but I also saw The Imposter (2012), The Pig Farm (2011) and The Fear of 13 (2015), all of which I'd recommend watching, although the Pig Farm one dragged on a little. Anyhow, 'Mommy Dead and Dearest' is a fantastic documentary, following a murder investigation involving Gypsy Rose Blancharde who was charged with planning the murder of her mother, with her boyfriend actually committing the killing. The documentary makers interviewed several people including Gypsy Rose herself, and explored the circumstances that drove her to plan such a horrific act. We discover that Dee Dee Blancharde (the mother) suffered with a mental illness which caused her to convince everyone in her life (family, neighbours, doctors) to believe that her daughter was severly ill, which one day Gypsy Rose would find out after growing up completely in the dark about the deception her mother had created. Feeling trapped in her life, Gypsy Rose searched for an escape and found one when he met her boyfriend, who was later convicted of the murder. What caused him to kill his girlfriend's mom? Why did Gypsy Rose decide to go to such diabolical measures to get away from her mother? Watch this documentary and find out!

 Hemlock Grove (2013)

I'm not gonna lie, I'm literally just watching this series because my current #MCM is in it, haha! With the release of the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT, tumblr seems to be filled with gifs and photographs of the gorgeous Bill Skargaard (who plays Pennywise the Clown in the new horror movie), and saw a couple from this show that made me have a mighty need to watch it! Hemlock Grove is a Netflix original horror series filled with supernatural beings. I love horrors, the paranormal and hot blood-covered men (yes, we already know I'm weird!). The series is based in a former steel town in Pennsylvania which is home to an array of extraordinary characters, and when a teenager is found murdered in a most shocking way, there is a hunt for her killer. Thus, we discover more about the strange people who live in this anything-but-normal town. Overall, it's a great show to binge watch (there's three seasons up on Netflix guys!), but there are quite a few 'corny' parts, which you see a lot with many modern horrors, both tv series and movies alike. Bill Skarsgaard and Landon Liboiron are in it and that makes it worth watching in my opinion! *insert 28 heart-eyed emojis here*

Thought Crimes: The Case Of The Cannibal Cop (2015)

This documentary was really interesting; it was one of those shows that really gets you thinking and considering what you believe to be right or wrong. In Thought Crimes (2015), we are introduced to the case of Gilberto Valle who has been accused of conspiring to kidnap women. The most shocking element of his apparent plan was that it involved murder and/or cannibalism. He argues that his 'plans' were all fantasy, which he was discussing with other like-minded people and that he never really intended to carry out any of the things he said online in 'dark web' forums. His case was a very tough one to prosecute because the arguement arose on whether people could ethically be charged for their deepest thoughts and fantasies. People should be allowed to express their desires, because there's a lot of people especially within fetish communities who fantastise's, however bizzare or taboo to the non-kink world, are purely fantasy-based and are of course never intended to be a reality. So even if people think what the hell! about this guy's thoughts- he cannot help what his preference are, and is it harmful for him to think about or discuss them just within the realm of fantasy? The documentary questioned, do we start prosecuting people based on fantasy-talk, even if it seems very detailed? This is potentially pushing taboo sexuality back into the shadows, and constricting freedom of speech rights. Or, should people who display these interests be monitored in case they could commit crimes in the future? It makes you think, how do we really know that some people won't go on to actually try to carry out their fantasties? It was highlighted that Gilberto had researched keywords on google and discussed specifics about what he wanted to do and who with. A lot of what he talked about online was shocking, but there is still no definitive proof that he would have ever commited these acts. It is understandable that some of his fantasties would have been detailed, since it's natural for someone to think about sex a lot since it is one of the driving instincts of humans, and many people have intricate ideas of how they would like their deepest, and sometimes darkest, fantasties to play out. I don't want to explain anymore about the storyline because you should go watch the documentary :) I'd love to hear your thoughts!

So, these were my six most enjoyed watches of September. Have you seen any of the shows or movies that I've mentioned? I'm super happy that I'm managing to keep up with my movie-watching streak, especially when it comes to horror movies! I re-watched part 1 & 2 of 'Stephen's King IT (1990)' and the new Annabelle: Creation, plus I've already watched four this month and we are only 10 days in, haha (I mean, is it even Halloween if you don't watch horror movies!?). You'll have to wait for my October edition to read all about them!

Thankyou for reading!

Spoopy Unboxing Fridays #1

Hello guys! A few weeks ago now I came across the latest edition of Pusheen the Cat blind boxes whilst scrolling through facebook. They were Halloween-themed and absolutely gorgeous! I kept my eye out on youtube for the next few days waiting for these new boxes to appear on the channel of one of my favourite toy reviewers, and finally the wonderful PSToyReviews shared an unboxing! Once I'd seen the individual plushies inside the Pusheen Halloween Surprise Plush boxes, I had a mighty need to get some of my own! Whilst browsing around looking for a UK supplier, I was inspired with an idea! I thought it would be awesome to share a weekly series on my blog over October (aka everyday is Halloween month!) unboxing a variety of cute and spooky themed blind boxes. A combination of two of my favourite things, Halloween and collectables! I have been super excited about getting these posts started, so here's my first edition :) I hope that you all enjoy these posts, and be sure to check back every Friday this month for more!

Pusheen Surprise Plush Halloween

I can't believe to be honest that it's taken me this long to get myself some of the Pusheen Surprise Plush boxes by Gund! There's so many different kinds and I've been in love with every one I've seen on unboxing videos (watching these videos takes up about 50% of my life; not even sorry!). I've just never seen them around on the collectable online stores that I frequent and so ordering some just sliped my mind I guess. Pusheen is such an adorable character and I'm slightly obsessed, so it's about bloody time really that I ordered one! Are you a fan of Pusheen? Have you ever bought a Pusheen blind box?

There are eight plush keyrings available to collect in these lovely surprise boxes! One of these is a mystery plush, which makes things even more exciting when you're opening blind boxes! Something that's a little different about the particular boxes that I ordered is that the keyring is different to the plushies I've seen on the unboxing videos I've watched. They all seem to have those keychains made up of little metal balls, if that makes sense haha! I'm really glad though that mine have a clip style keyring because I prefer these, as they are more secure and less likely to come off my bag.

How gorgeous is the selection of plushies inside these boxes!? I would be happy to receive any of them, however my favourite is the original Pusheen sitting in the Jack-O-Lantern, closely followed by the Frankenstein kitty. I'd love to hear which one you'd most like to get inside your blind box in the comments!

Something that's wonderful about these blind boxes is how well they are decorated, with the most adorable illustrations! I'm lovin' the Pusheen haunted house. It's the only haunted house I'd happily be trapped in! So now it's time to reveal the plushies that I found inside my boxes. I ordered two surprise boxes from a UK online store called ThreeLittleBears. They cost £6.95 each, which seems pretty pricey but the quality and design of the plush keyrings makes up for it in my opinion! Keep scrolling to see the lastest editions to my Pusheen merch collection...

Here's the plush that I got inside the first blind box I opened; it's the cutest little bat-cat ever! If you've been following my blog for some time, you may have seen my Pusheen Box subscription posts and remember my Autumn box? If not, you can find it here. Anyhow, inside each of these quartly subscription boxes you get an exclusive vinyl figure which matches the theme of the box. Since Halloween is in Autumn, the figure was designed as a Pusheen bat, and it looks almost identical to this plushie!

I love the shade of purple they've used for this plush keyring, it's mauve i think? It's such a well-sewn, fabulous quality item and I'm certainly impressed. Something that I was curious to discover for myself was how soft the material would be, since almost every youtuber I've seen reviewing them has commented on how lovely they feel! I can definitely agree now that I've held one myself. They feel so velvety! Now onto the final plush...

Pusheen Surprise Plush Halloween

Well I didn't get any of the keyrings that I really wanted, but I'm so happy with this next Pusheen! Seriously, how adorable is this little guy!? Pusheen looks like she's trying to copy off her humans and attempt to dress up for Halloween, with the way this mummy character is designed. So sweet! I like how the material used for the bandages is different to the one used for the plushie themselves as it's a nice contrast. I love the simplicity of the overall apperance of this plushie too, and the fact that Pusheen herself is the original grey colour :) It's such a pretty grey shade as well.

Another feature of these plush keyrings that I adore is their whiskers, that they are not just printed/stitched on. An additional thing that makes these products feel such a great quality is how sturdy the clip keyring is and how well it's attached to the plush. I can tell it would take a lot to detach and that makes me feel safer about putting it onto my bags without the fear of losing it when I'm out and about! Below is a closer look at the keyring...

I am very much delighted with my new spoopy Pusheen keyrings; I can't wait to adorn my bags with them and show them off! They are really cute and have such lovely, unique designs and have definitely encouraged me to buy more from the Gund surprise plush range, who sell a lot of adorable well-known characters such as Grumpy Cat and Boo the Pomeranian. It's the nature of blind boxes that you don't always get the ones you wanted, but the Series 4 Halloween Pusheen range is wonderful and so I can't really be disappointed with the ones I did receive.

These plushies are quite literally the definition of spoopy, which if you haven't heard of the term before reading my post relates to a meme and has been coined to describe anything that is funny and spooky, or cute and spooky, all at once. I thought Spoopy Unboxing would be the perfect way to describe the unveiling of the blind boxed goodies that I am going to be showcasing and reviewing for the next four weeks (although I can see myself falling in love so much that I can't resist trying to complete the collections). I'll end this post with a photograph of my Halloween cuties together.

Bedroom Inspiration

Hey lovelies! I've mentioned before that I share a bedroom at home and that that will soon change! I am going to finally have my own bedroom for the first time (not including when I was living in university accommodation)! It is looking like the day will be arriving very soon and so I've constantly had decorating ideas on my mind lately. If you follow me on Pinterest I'm sure you'll have seen all of my homeware and bedroom ideas pinning! This has motivated me to share a bedroom inspiration post with you all just showcasing some of the homeware or furniture that take my fancy.

I've decided that the best way to show you my ideas is by sharing them in collage form, so I've put together three collages for today's post. One will be dedicated to my dream bedroom furniture. The second will showcase some of the homeware that I would love to have in my room, and the last collage will contain the colour schemes and decor that I have in mind.
Enjoy!

As you can see, I have a thing for white furniture! I've decided to go for white furniture because I love how eye-catching bright coloured items look against a white background. I'm really looking forward to having all of my collectible figures and plushies displayed on white furniture! I've been very excited about the fact that I'll finally be able to dislay my books and collectibles on shelving units, like the one in the bottom right of my collage :) I am constantly pinning 'shelfies' because I adore a well-filled, decorative bookcase with everything sorted into categories or colour co-ordinated, easy to find and looking neat and pretty. I can't wait to be able to wake up everyday and look at my own bookshelves with pride; although I'm sure mine will be more cluttered and busy than those I have saved on Pinterest, haha!

You may be wondering why there's no wardrobe included on my furniture collage... this is because there's a built-in closet (more of a big cupboard) in my bedroom which since my sister & I moved into it, when I was around 11 years old, has been used to store stuff- a mixture of our possessions and old boxes of family photo albums and such. This cupboard will soon be turned into my wardrobe, and this will free up a lot more room space as it erases the need for an actual wardrobe. Having my own room will also mean that I can finally have an area to put a TV and therefore a console :) I've missed gaming so much so I'm over the moon about this! My collage has two square/cube storage units featured on it, and this is because I love them so much! I like how versatile they are; you can fill them with those fabric 'baskets' or just stack your items as you would on a bookcase. I just really like how they look.

The thing I am most excited about is getting a desk, and having a designated work area for blogging! Omgosh, I can't wait! I have been for so long without a desk and it's been super stressful. Even more so after coming back home from university where I had my own bedroom with a desk! You can have a nosey at my desk ideas on my 'All about that desk' board over on my Pinterest.

If you've been a follower of my blog for a while, you'll know that I'm pretty obsessed with Japanese kawaii culture! I just adore it! I have since I was a kid, as I grew up watching anime shows filled with the cutest characters- Pokemon, Digimon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Hamtaro. So, for as long as I can remember I've dreamt of having my own little kawaii space! I very much enjoy watching kawaii bedroom tours on Youtube, but I'm always left feeling envious that I don't have a bedroom like that myself. It's going to feel amazing for me to finally be able to create my own haven of pastel-coloured cuteness!

Above you can get an idea of the style of homeware I would like to fill my bedroom with. I love pretty pale shades and so any cutesy items in these colours are right up my street. I love candles so much, and I've had my eye on several gorgeous candle brands for over a year now. I'm delighted that I can soon buy some of the awesome Pyro Pets candles and the super detailed skull candles from Ember Candle Co. Being an animal lover, I'm a big fan of animal themed homeware, such as the rabbit lamp that I found on Pinterest and the adorable origami animal lights by Disaster Designs that I've featured on one of my past wishlists (you can find some here), so I'll certainly be getting something similar to brighten up my bedroom.

I love dreamcatchers, especially the new style of fabric dreamcatchers that are becoming popular lately and other hanging ornaments, so I will definitely have some of those on my bedroom walls. Along with these, I want to have a large corkboard near my desk to pin up important information and post-it note reminders, and a magnetic board to display my magnet collection. I am also a pin badge collecter and so I'm very happy to soon be able to display my collection, and I've decided to put them on some embroidery hoops up on my wall. Over the last few months, I've shared a couple of photos over on Instagram of my art wall. I'll be keeping this display of prints and other cute things up and continually adding to it.

When it comes to decorating my bedroom walls, I prefer patterned wallpaper but the simplistic kind with a bold pattern and light colours. At the moment, I have a bright blue damask print feature wall in my bedroom, with the other three walls having plain cream wallpaper on them. I love my current wallpaper but I feel like a new bedroom needs a new wallpaper and so I've been looking around for some other styles. I'm a creature of habit so I might stick with the damask patterned feature wall but get a slightly different colour or look, or I'll look for something else that goes well with the kawaii-theme I'm going for. I am in love with the Cath Kidston floral wallpaper! I also love another paper that I saw recently that is covered in a hundreds & thousands sprinkles print. I'm having a tough time finalising my decisions when it comes to wallpaper because there's just so many beautiful designs available!

As I have three cream walls in my bedroom, I like to add colour to them by adding bunting or garlands, however I am yet to invest in a higher quality one so I have been looking around on Pinterest and Etsy to find the perfect one. My final collage includes two pretty ones that I've come across online to give you can an idea of what I have in mind. PomTree on Etsy make some gorgeous banners for celebrations and decoration, like the rainbow pastel one I've shared above and a rose gold, blush and champagne one that makes me think of a Naked eyeshadow palette! I love the pompom garlands by FrillyPops on Etsy too; they are so cute! Do you have any recommendations for wall deco? I'd really appreciate it if you'd share your ideas and links below :)

Whether I choose a floral paper for my feature wall or not, I am still a huge fan of floral patterns and I am 100% sure that I am going to get some floral print fabric 'boxes/baskets' to add into my cube storage units. I'm pretty sure that the one I've featured on my collage is from a collaberation between Ikea & Cath Kidston... I think it's lovely and I will probably end up buying them unless I can find a blue floral design to match my wall paper. I am set on having my main bedroom colour scheme as light blue and white, although I like having a variety of colours so they won't be the only colours I have around my room. Because of my main colour scheme, I want to find home decor for my bedroom that at least has a little blue on it. Both of the cushions that I've added to my final collage have some blue on them and the same will apply to other homeware I get such as throws and ornaments.

I still have a couple of months before I think I'll finally have my own bedroom and then it will take me probably until after Christmas to finish up decorating and furniture shopping, so I have plenty of time to brainstorm my ideas and make final decisions on what exactly I'm going to have in my bedroom. It's going to an exciting process (albeit probably stressful too!) to re-decorate and organise my things, and I'll keep you all up to date on what's happening over on my social media. I hope I've not bored you all rambling about my bedroom inspiration, haha!

You can have a nosey through my Bedroom Inspiration board on Pinterest to see more of my ideas if you want :)
