The Geeky Girl Tag

Hi guys! I hope you're all having a lovely day :) I'm in such an excitable mood, all because tonight Game of Thrones Season 7 starts! Omgosh yay! I can't wait. I usually watch it in the early hours of the morning when it's been aired in the US, but this year I've decided to go to my dad's place to watch it with him. My parents have never really been into the same shows as I am so it's awesome that my dad loves Game of Thrones. I still have to remind him of the names of all the characters though, haha! It's strange but fun nonetheless not really being sure what's going to happen on this season of the show, because it has now surpassed the books. I'm eagerly anticipating when Mr Martin will finish 'Winds of Winter'. I hope it's soon! Fellow GoT fans, who's your favourite character(s)? Let me know in the comments.

So... for today's post, I thought I'd share a tag with you all since it's been such a long time since I've done this kind of post. I've wanted to do this Geeky Girl tag for a while now after reading it over on Natalee's blog, There Might Be Coffee. I really enjoyed reading her answers, which you can check out here. It seems like the perfect day to share this when I'm seriously nerding out about Game of Thrones. I haven't shut up about it to anyone who is willing to listen to my ramblings and plot theories all day. Enjoy!

The Geeky Girl Tag

(1) What's your must-have tech gadget?

For me at the moment, it would have to be my laptop, even though it's broken and it makes using it so stressful but I wouldn't be able to blog without it or binge-watch all my favourite shows. Also my iPhone 5, I really love my phone!

(2) Which house do you belong to in Hogwarts?

I'm a Ravenclaw :) I always wanted to be part of this house and believed that I would be sorted into it by the Sorting Hat if J.K. Rowling's wizarding world was real. So, when I did the Pottermore test and it was declared that I was a Ravenclaw, I was over the moon! Luna Lovegood is my favourite character and she's a fellow Raveclaw so yay!

(3) Who is your favourite Doctor?

I am not actually a fan of Doctor Who (please don't hate me, haha!). I have watched a few episodes with my friends who are big fans and I don't dislike it, but it's just not something that I would go out of my way to watch. When I saw all of the news about the new Doctor being a woman, I thought this was pretty awesome!

(4) If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be?

I think I'd choose Tyrion Lannister from the Song of Ice & Fire Novels/Game of Thrones, just because he's so witty and knowledgable so I think he would make amazing, interesting conversation. He and Arya Stark are my favourite characters :) I also think it would be really cool to have dinner with Will Graham & Hannibal Lecter from the NBC show Hannibal, obviously it wouldn't be at Hannibal's house because of what would be served for dinner there XD but I think they are both incredibly interesting characters and I'd love to have a good psychology-based discussion with them. Plus Mads Mikkelsen & Hugh Dancy are very good looking ;)

(5) What s your gaming system of choice?

I prefer PlayStation, but of course Xbox is still great. I also love my Nintendo DS, even though I am definitely not up to date with the lastest DS, oops. It sucks that just before I moved away to university, I had to sell my Xbox 360 and since then, I haven't been able to afford to get myself a new console :( At least, I still have my good old PS2 to get me through the days until I can buy a PS4.

(6) If you had a super power, what would it be?

I used to always wish that I had the power to read people's minds, however as I'm even more anxious now as an adult, I think it could be quite a disadvantage to be able to hear people's judgemental or mean thoughts and opinions, etc. Eeek! The other super power that I've always wanted to have was the power to talk to animals, to understand them and be able to communicate with them. Just like Eliza Thornberry from the Wild Thornberries... I absolutely loved this show as a child! Oooh, the power to heal people would also be amazing!

(7) What is your favourite fantasy world?

I love the Spirit World that Chihero gets lost in, in the Studio Ghibli movie 'Spirited Away'. It just looks really cool and magical, but I wouldn't want to get trapped there forever. The bath house in the movie looks amazingly relaxing though, so I'd love to have a spa day there! My other favourite fantasy world's are J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, as it's filled with such beautiful landscapes and people and creatures and magic! Also, the world in Alice In Wonderland. It just looks so strange and whimsical and colourful :)

(8) If you could be any fictional race, what would you be?

I've always had a fascination with Elven folklore so I would have to be an Elf

(9) Star Trek or Star Wars?

Definitely Star Wars.

(10) List your top 5 geektastic  Movies or TV shows:

{Movies}
  • The Harry Potter movies (my favourite of them all is The Prisoner of Azkaban)
  • Super Mario Brothers (1993) - a movie I absolutely loved as a child!
  • Pan's Labyinth (2006) - it's creepy and I just love it so much! Guillermo del Toro movies are always amazing!
  • Princess Mononoke (1997) - my favourite Studio Ghibli movie
  • Mio in the Land of Faraway (1987) is an old fantasy movie that was introduced to me by my older brothers when I was really young. Because it was one of the first fantasy movies I ever watched, it will always be special to me :) young Christian Bale was also adorable!
  • I couldn't stick to just five, haha! I had to include Pokemon: The First Movie (1998). I still have the massive poster of the movie cover that I got with my video from back in 1999 when I had just turned 7 years old.
{TV Shows}
  • Game of Thrones
  • The Walking Dead
  • True Blood
  • Stranger Things
  • Vikings
 (11) List your top 5 favourite video games:

I'm a big fan of the old classics, like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Tomba, Tekken, Rayman. I also love the Fable game series. I loved playing Okami & Ni No Kuni. Klonoa was a game I really enjoyed in the teens, too :)

  2. Oh I loved this post Sarah, it was so much fun to read through and I love these kinds of posts, especially when it's got that geek theme too! I completely agree with wanting to sit down and chat with Tyrion, he'd be equal parts funny and wise and I'd love that. Also, yes to the spirit world from Spirited Away, a magical and sometimes terrifying place - it would be amazing to explore it! - Tasha

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words :) You should definitely answer it over on your blog too; I'd love to read your answers! Exactly, he is an amazing, complex character! Oh yeah, it would definitely be scary, especially with all those creepy spirits and the chance of being turned into something else by a witch forever, eek! x

  3. This is such a cute tag! They're definitely fun to read once in awhile, especially when you get a bit of a different topic (like this). I actually stopped watching Game of Thrones maybe half-way through the 4th season? I got tired of watching it illegally - I wish HBO would just team up with Netflix, haha! But I did always really like Arya, Sansa, and Daenerys. I also liked Khal Drogo, but, you know, that was a bit short-lived, haha.
