What I Got For My Birthday

Hello lovelies! Did you know that I turned 25 on the 1st October!? It's taken me so long to get this post up but finally here it is! I love having a nosey at what other people got for their birthdays so I thought I'd share my presents with you guys and tell you all about how I celebrated this year :) I can't believe that I'm actually 25! I feel like I was 15 years old, a socially-awkward alternative nerdy school girl spending my weekends hanging around with a huge bunch of teenagers in the town centre, obsessing over My Chemical Romance, I blinked, and it's suddenly 10 years later! Although I'm still a socially-awkward alternative nerd, so nothing much has changed to be honest, haha!

This year, my birthday fell on a Sunday and since my family usually come over on this day anyway for Sunday roast dinner, we decided to celebrate by having a birthday buffet instead. For a fussy eater like me, buffets are wonderful because I can pick and choose what I want, and we had a lovely mix of savoury and sweet foods. We also had a chocolate gateau for dessert with whipped cream, and since my house was crowded like it typically is on Sunday's, there were a lot of people to sing Happy Birthday to me and watch me blow out the candles on top of my cake... which of course was pretty mortifying for me! It was nice to be able to spend time with my nieces and nephews on my birthday :) I opened my presents before everyone arrived, when it was just me, my mom and my sister. Aurora was so excited about the wrapping paper, and watching her jumping around and tearing up the paper was the highlight of my morning. She's too adorable!  Check out the photo I shared of her on Instagram that day!

So, here's what my mom bought me for my birthday. My dad gave me an early Birthday present back in  June when he paid for my Squirtle plushie from Build-A-Bear, which I adore! (you can see my Build-A-Bear pokemon collection here if you want). Before I show you my presents, I just needed to show you the wrapping paper that my mom used...

HOW FLIPPIN' CUTE ARE THESE WRAPPING PAPERS!? Thankfully, these two pieces are what was left of the rolls so I can keep some! Just look how adorable these prints are though. I'm not sure where this paper is from, I want to say Primark but I can ask if you're interested. Just let me know in the comments :) Keep scrolling to see the goodies that were hidden inside my super cute wrapping paper! *be prepared for a pic heavy post from now on in*

The first present that I unwrapped was the 'Wild Woodland' colouring book, it's a really lovely little colouring book filled with gorgeous fauna and flora illustrations. There's also a positive quote on the back of each page which is sweet. I can't wait to get colouring in it! I have been asking for some new felt tip pens for a while so I am super happy that I got some for my birthday, and I am curious to try them out. We always get chocolate for special occasions, whether it's for birthdays or Christmas, and it didn't take long at all for me to devour them! It was my first time trying the Maltesers Teasers bar and omg it's delicious. It might actually be one of my top five favourite chocolate bars now! Have you ever had one? If not, then you need to seriously go buy one :)

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know how much I love surprises, mostly through all of my posts about blind boxes! I just love being surprised and so when asked what I wanted for my birthday, I asked for two items that I've had my eye on for a while, but wanted the rest to be a surprise. How about you? Do you love or hate surprises/having to wait to find out what your presents are? My sister is the completely opposite, she hates surprises. She was one of those kids who would search for her presents before the day, haha! One of the things I asked for was the Rimmel Lasting Finish primer, since I've been meaning to experiment with primers for a while and I didn't want to buy a more expensive brand for my first one. Speaking of surprises, those two mini tsum tsums (Disney's Goofy & the Cheshire Cat) are from one of those packs where you get one visible figure and then one surprise figure. I'm a big fan of tsum tsums so I couldn't wait to take photos, I opened it right away!

I really love my new dreamcatcher! I have been pinning these style of 'bohemian' dreamcatchers over on my Pinterest for a while now because they are really pretty. I was delighted when I discovered that I'd gotten one, since I never told my mom about them or how much I wanted one. I think that the doily in the centre of the dreamcatcher is lovely!

I am in love with my new Pokemon notebook! It's a really nice shade of blue and the design is so bold and eye-catching. I love the excited expressions on the starter pokemons faces! They looked just as happy to see me as I was to see that notebook when I peeled back my wrapping paper! I will forever love getting new notebooks as presents, and this one has popped into my life at the perfect time as I was after a new blogging ideas journal. My mom recently found a little store in a local town that sells Japanese and Korean products, and that's where my new pens are from. They are so kawaii and I love them!

I showed my mom another bell jar ornament that was really similar to this beautiful white rabbit one that she bought me for my birthday, and I am very happy because this one is so much prettier than the one I showed her! I finally have a bell jar ornament after wanting one for years, and I can't wait to display it in my newly decorated bedroom when it's all finished! I received some other ornamental gifts too: a bunny tealight holder & a tsum tsum money bank. I think the money box is lovely. I love the choice of colours and the cute characters all over it, however it's sad that you have to smash this type of money bank when you are ready to empty it. I don't think I could bring myself to break it so I don't know if I will ever actually use it for it's designed purpose. I'm pretty sure that my mom is a mind reader, considering I was thinking last month about how much I needed a new tealight holder, then viola! she gets me one, a super cute bunny one too!

This amazing TokiDoki backpack was the other item that I asked for from my birthday wishlist, which I learnt was even more fabulous than expected when I saw it in person. We ordered it from the UK store, Artbox; it sells an array of adorable items and I usually accumulate a huge wishlist every time I browse the website! Go check them out if you love cute Japanese and Korean products like me :) So yeah, the print of this backpack is fantastic, the colour is really vibrant! The inside of the bag is a bright, almost-neon pink and the whole thing is really spacious, including the front zip pouch. I'm really happy to find some of my favourite TokiDoki characters on there, including Latte, the cactus puppies and kittens, and also lots of unicornos! I can't wait to rock this bag when I next go on a day out!

The presents in the photograph above are actually from my best friend, and I love them so I couldn't not include them in today's post! I had been hoping to get my hand's on some Nyx Cosmetics products for a while when Jess surprised me with this pretty 'go-to goodies' set which includes a matte lipstick, a lip liner and an eyeshadow palette with the most gorgeous shades in. I have never used lip liner before so I'm looking forward to trying it out. I think these shades are great for Autumn as well! The other prezzie that Jess got me is this rabbit/chinchilla/wannabee Horlicks monster that is so bloody cute and it also feels really soft. I may have mentioned on some of my previous birthday posts, I can't remember... but my best friend & I have birthday's that are really close, so for the last few years we've been having a joint-birthday celebration.

This year we really weren't in the mood for a drunken night out so we instead decided to stay overnight in Manchester city, which is about an hour from our hometown via train. Jess had been eyeing up the Birthday Cake freakshake at TGI Friday's for ages so of course we had to go there whilst we were in Manchester. My meal was yummy, but omgosh my dessert was delicious! When both our desserts arrived at the table, even some of the people around us stared at them! It was pretty funny :) We spent most of our time in the city shopping, and it was lovely to spend time together just a day or so before my birthday!

To finish today's post, I wanted to share with you all the lovely cards I received from my loved ones this year. The awesome festive llama card that greets you at the start of the post is from one of my brothers. As for the other cards, the owl card is from another of my brothers, the teddy bear in the tea cup is from my dad, the fabulous unicorn card is from Jess, and the koala-tea (I love puns!) is from another of my brothers & his family. The adorable TokiDoki card is from my sister, and I love it so much more because Latte is one of my favourite characters. However, my favourite card of the lot is the shiny pokemon card from my mom! I think it's so cool how the charmander on the card matches the one of my new notebook!! Most of these cards will definitely be added onto the art wall in my bedroom :) I hope you enjoyed reading about my birthday and I'm glad that I could share my happiness with you all. I still keep forgetting I'm now 25, although I have finally remembered to change my age on all of my social media!

Thankyou for reading!

Have a wonderful day guys!
